No plans to come down to Orlando's Megacon? It has the largest Cosplay contest on the east coast.

Image Anime's going (the reasons I go to so many cons is because I work for an Anime Store so I go for free with them) but they're not taking me, and I don't have the time/money to go~ plus I think I hit up more than enough cons anyway.

Image Anime? I know the owner Wing from years ago while I lived in NY. We actually took a trip to Japan together in 1994 and attended JAFCON there. I did remember seeing them with a booth here last year. I think it was Benny who was manning the table. I still visit the store once in while when I make a visit to NY. So what do you do for them anyway?

I work part time, Saturdays & sundays, do some work on the website, work for them at cons and do any PR work that needs to get done 8)

It's wonderful~ I'm seriously working my college dream job!

That's great! Reminds of the time I used to hang out at their shop in my early 20's. I worked at Marvel Comics and would be there at least once a week. Marvel's old office was located on Park Ave. and 28th street back then and it was a 20 minute walk to get to Image Anime. I made good money and had plenty to spend on anime stuff and takes trips to Japan. It was a good time!

I as never did any cosplay. It wasn't as popular among Anime fans back then. I was more into model building:

Oh man, that sounds like the golden age of nerdom to me!

Yeah, I think because of the internet and people becoming more obsessed with fame cosplay has become more popular. Also because the quality of wigs, and commissions has gone up so significantly it's become more of a big deal.

Model building is really fun! I've built one or two of them and I loved it! just wish I had the time/money to do it mroe often~

It was a pretty good time from memory. But back then when we wanted Anime it can only be obtained by going to a comic book or Star Trek convention. We buy Video tapes from vendors and most of the times it does not even have English subtitles. Same with any anime merchandises. There were very few girls at those shows, and the only people who dress up in costumes are Star Trek fans. But that was the way how things were.

I kinda think the golden age of nerdom is now. Anime can be downloaded easily online and English fansubs are available days after it's release. Any Anime item fans desire can be purchas or preorder easily at multiple websites. And now when I go to a comic or anime con it's packed with girl supporting the fandom. I always think I am born 10 years too early.

So what kind of kits have you built before?

Ahhh~ I just made the rock band Haruhi outfit about a month or so ago. I should have pictures up sometime, but in any case, I can't wait to see your take on it! :3 This makes me excited.

You should put up pictures some time! I wanna see it!

Uuugh man, I have no idea when it's actually happening, but I have all the fabric and spent 85$ on the shoes so far and I'm not even done with them! I'm a little fed up with Haruhi at the moment, but when I recover from being annoyed with the series I'll start working on it~

And thanks 8D

You spent 85 dollars on the shoes!? That's ridiculous! Where did you buy them? I searched for ever for mine and I eventually found a perfect pair at Sears for like 20 dollars. They were on clearance. However, I spent about 60 dollars on the fabric so I guess it evens out D:
