I gotta say FanimeCon! It was my first con and next year will be my forth year attending. Also, for easy transportation, good places to eat outside and, great places to shoot. SDCC is probably going to be my next con. In your opinion which is better NYCC or Katsucon? I want to go to both but I want to know before I jump on a plane to the east coast.
Katsucon is a million times better in terms of cosplay/being able to hang out with your friends in a lovely convention center/area. NYCC is only good if you're really interested in the guests and artists they have there, since they get some really awesome comic guests - it's pretty awful for cosplaying, and its location is alllll the way over on 12th ave which makes getting to it a massive pain in the ass. Katsucon is way better than NYCC in my opinion.
; - ; I haven't been to a con in years because of either school, bad timing, location, money problems, or I don't find out about the con until it's over and everyone is just showing off his or her swag.
Their artist alley is probably the best in country, I actually attend panels there, and I do like walking the exhibitor floor. Different strokes for different folks, but again, NYCC is a great con for me. Way too many pros to weigh out the negatives for me.
Fanime, for me it's the perfect mix of food and friends (and booze hahaha) with plenty of photo shoot locations within reasonable walking distance~ Anime Los Angeles is probably a close second for me. I'd love to go to Katsucon someday, though when I'm able to afford it!
The location is gorgeous and good for various photoshoots. Not overly crowded like the bigger cons. Not sweltering hot like at Otakon. The atmosphere is great, isolated from busy cities, we can really take over the place! And since it's all in the hotel, you never have to leave the feel-good con experience all weekend.
NYCC is always the best! 'Sides it's even the con that is close to where I'm residing!
P.S.: Planning to go to I-Con (March 2013). Even though it's being held at Long Island's Hofstra University, but might as well will give myself a try of journeying to much far distances from Manhattan. Sakura Matsuri 2013? Hell yeah I'm going!! d^_^b
